Nestling in the ramparts of Saint-Romain-en-Viennois, La Calade was originally a farmhouse abutting the inside wall of the fortifications of this village-in-the-round situated in northern Vaucluse.
La Calade conceals an inner courtyard, abundant in greenery, where a small
fountain plays.
The rooftop terrace gives fine views of the nearby Drôme hills.

The rooms are all reached through a large and convivial kitchen with an attractive ceiling that is centuries old. Higher up, from the rooftop terrace, the view extends over the ancient roofing tiles of the village houses, to the church and far out across the surrounding countryside.

It is furnished in the main with early 19th century family furniture and the walls are hung with old prints.
The drawing room, which has an elegant fireplace and a well stocked bookcase, opens onto the courtyard where, during the warm season, breakfast is taken amid the bloom of flowers and to the soothing tinkle of the fountain.
